VS10+ Trial
Hello. Another newbie here. This looks like a group of very helpful folks and I'm hoping you can help me resolve a little problem I have with VS10+. As a little background, I had Pinnacle Studio 9 on my computer and it was nothing but trouble. To make matters worse, Pinnacle's tech support wouldn't even respond to my requests for assistance and there were no messages available when it would crash my computer to give any guidance. I'm hoping that Ulead will be the better option and I'm encouraged by what I've read here on this forum.
On to the issue at hand. I downloaded the trial version yesterday and installed it. I followed the inormation in the sticky post at the top of this forum as closely as I could. I started with a DV-AVI file, edited it down to about 26 minutes in one clip. No transitions, no nothing added. Then I tried to create the video file as described in the sticky post. The rendering gets to 29% and quits. I saved a copy of the file generated at that point and also wrote down the text in the little box generated at the same time.
I'm not certain what of that long text file is useful but I would be happy to copy and paste any of it that is.
I got the following in the small window that came up when I looked for details relating to the problem:
Appname VSTUDIO.DAT
App Ver 10.0.0.0
Modname DVSF.AX
Mod Ver 7.0.0.0
Offset 0000c7b1
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
I've tried contacting Tech Support via Customer Service because it didin't appear that I could contact then directly without first registering the product. I'm not inclined to pay for the product so I can register it so I can talk to Tech Support if I can't get the product to work in the first place.

I'm just wondering why it says VSTUDIO.DAT because in UVS the program file should be VSTUDIO.EXE, unless your system got virus infected.
If it's a typo, then I would check what DVSF.ax is. It seems it's a DV codec that conflicted with video editing softwares (not just Ulead).
For DV-AVI, Microsoft DV codec is suggested for stability.
Hope this helps.

Thank you H.T. For your reply. I do run Norton A/V frequently and have never had a virus reported however I will check for one again. DAT was what it said. I'll investigate DVSF.ax to see what that is.
For what it is worth, the first few lines of the file generated by VS10 read like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?>
<DATABASE>
<EXE NAME="vstudio.dat" FILTER="GRABMI_FILTER_PRIVACY">
I did a search for "GRABMI_FILTER_PRIVACY" but couldn't make heads or tails of what I came across. Note that "vstudio.DAT" appears here as well
Curious things are afoot.
thanks again. I'll see what I can discover.

H.T., I've run a virus scan (I even upgraded my Norton A/V software and got updates before doing a deep scan.) No virus found. I searched the computer and found VSTUDIO.DAT and DVSF.AX. They were both installed by VS10 Plus. Any other thoughts?
I wish Tech Support would reply to my e-mail. I'd like to figure out what I need to change or fix on my system to get it to work. It sounds like others are enjoying using it. Hmmm....
Thanks for your assistance.

Dave,
Here's the post, it's under the General Information section.

or scrolling down provides more information for several of Ulead's programs.

Well, I followed the instructions from that post about reinstalling VS10+. I did all the steps and also discovered some Pinnacle related junk in the registry that I got rid of as well. I defragged the HD while I was at it. Then I reinstalled VS10+.
This time things were going well and I expected to be able report that all your assistance solved my problems. I was also expecting to be able to reportI had registered the program and would be a full-fledged Ulead user.
Rendering got to slightly above 90% this time. I wasn't watching it when it quit. This time I got the BSOD with the following Stop message.
0x0000000A (0x61506567, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804E7412)
I'll try a search for this but if anyone has any additional ideas, I'm open to trying them. Thanks.
