No DVD player in DVDMF5?

Post by cfh »

I recently upgraded to DVD MF5 and now all the DVD disks I burn (in either MF5 or my older DMDMF4) do *not* have the ulead DVD player. Without the player, if you insert the newly made DVD into a computer drive, it will not play (or auto play). How do i fix this in DVD MF5? thanks!

I understand that the Ulead player may not be licenced in MF5. But why would it remove it from my installed and PAID FOR moviefactory version4??? I really feel screwed here because i have LOST functionality due to installing MF5. It's like I paid money for them to delete stuff from my machine!

Does anyone have the MF4 install program i could download? Unfortunately when i bought MF4 i forgot to save the download file. I would like to delete MF5 and go back to MF4. Nothing like throwing money down the toliet.

There is a free DVd player in our links to free stuff here:
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... ght=#59741
You include it onto a DVD by selecting the include personal folder option.

The only way you will get a download link for Version 4 is to contact Ulead customer Services and provide proof of purchase. Should anyone provide a link on the forum the Moderators would have to remove it immediately.

With the above DVD player, does it AutoRun on any system when a DVD that is burned with the free player is inserted into the drive (like the older Ulead DVD player did)? Or does it force the user to install the software (which is a MAJOR INCONVENIENCE, if that is the case).

if anyone does have the download DVDMF4 file please email me. I can happily provide my DVDMF4 and DVDMF5 serial number for verification that i have purchased both of these products. As for contacting Customer Support, YEA RIGHT. Like that's gonna help. Their product auto-deleted functionality from my system (without asking). So i can see where their customer support is going.

Unless you include an autorun entry on the root of the DVD drive
(Just like any disc that autoruns e.g. your windows setup disc)
then the player will not autorun. You would need to inform the user of its existence - possibly on the DVD Menu or on the label or DVd case/sleeve etc.

Are you saying that MF4 allowed you to include the Ulead DVD Runtime Player :?:

I thought they removed that in MF4 (it was there in MF3 DC).

Right! DVD Disk Creator Movie Factory version 4 had the Ulead DVD player embedded. So all my DVD's created with MF4 had the autorun DVD player.

Now that I have installed DVD Movie Factory 5, it deleted the Ulead player from my version4 DVD disk creator movie factory 4. And since i did not save the install program i downloaded with i bought version 4, I am now officially "screwed". All this because i paid to upgrade to version5.

Thank you ULEAD. Please reach in my wallet, take out another $50 dollar bill, and then dip me in hot tar and oil AGAIN.

DVD Movie Factory version 5 is a heap of CRAP. It offers nothing but a DOWNGRADE in usability. Please save your money.

Moved from the DVD Workshop forum. Maybe too late... :?

Ulead DVD Player is not been offered anymore, after InterVideo buys Ulead.

If you buy DVDMF 5 download version, there will be a e-mail sent to you with a subject "Download links for Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5" and you will find a download link for InterVideo WinDVD Player in the e-mail.

Hope this helps.

However, I use the Ulead DVD player every day. I think it's a fine player, much better than the MS one. I never understood why it was discontinued.

Just had a flash of inspiration - I get them every now and again.
If you've made DVD disks in the past and they included Uleads DVD Player - there's your answer - copy it to a folder on your Hard Drive from one of those previous discs and use that folder as your "Add Personal Folder"

chf,

I'm NOT saying that this is all your fault, but you could have downloaded the trial version first.

Of course you should have burned MF4 and the S/N & "password" onto a CD. (Personally, I buy the boxed versions.)

Then, there's this vague "warning" on the Compare Web page:
DVD MovieFactory 4 Disc Creator is an all-in-one disc burning solution, while DVD MovieFactory 5 updates some of the menu authoring features, as well as adding HD support. So, if your need is for basic but wide-spectrum disc burning, MovieFactory 4 should meet your needs.

However, if you want the latest in creative menu authoring, plus you are getting ready to join the high-definition revolution, then DVD MovieFactory 5 is right for you!

In fact, if you already own Disc Creator and wish to upgrade to version 5, we suggest you keep them both installed for the widest possible range of disc burning functionality.

But i have *both* version4 and version5 installed! The install of version5 removed the Ulead DVD player from my *version4* install!! This is the part i'm REALLY PISSED about. What right did version5 have to do THAT???

That's a good idea, i'm trying it now. Not sure if it will work as some of the files (like AUTORUN and others) need to be in the root directory of the DVD. And a file folder beneath that needs to exist too. But i'm trying it right now...

Ok I tried the Devil's idea. It worked, kind of.

The "personal" folder though is buried about 3 levels deep. For the Ulead DVD player to run, it needs the AutoRun file in the root, and some DVD player files in the root. Then there's one folder below that (which did get burned onto the DVD too). All the files got onto the new DVD, but not in the root. Therefore the DVD does not autoplay. And again because the player is not where it should be, there's not sound either. Not sure how to fix this.

The EMBEDDED DVD PLAYER Was discontinued after MovieFactory3 Disc Creator Version.

MovieFactory 4 Did NOT come with the embedded dvd player that could be added to the dvd.
(right GeorgeW?, remember the compliants?)
MovieFactory 4 Disk Creator came with the Ulead Dvd Player for playing dvd's but that is the full dvd player, it not the embedded dvd player that only
plays Mpeg audio and not dolby audio.

I installed MovieFactory 5 full retail version.

I still have a working MF3 with the embedded dvd player on the computer.
I still have a working MF4 WITHOUT the embedded dvd player on the computer.
I have MF5 retail version installed.
They all work :)

You must be referencing MovieFactory 3.
Do you want me to zip up the files & send em 2 U?

Checka your mail.

MD is correct.

Embedded DVD player is been offered before Ulead DVD MovieFactory 3.5. After DVDMF 4, the option is been removed due to compatibility issue. Some (maybe old) DVD deck players cannot accept to play DVD-Video disk that has embedded DVD player software in it.

In DVDMF 4 Ulead DVD Player is been offered but in DVDMF 5 it's been replaced by InterVideo WinDVD Player. The reasons as I know are:

1. Most features in Ulead DVD Player can be found in InterVideo WinDVD Player.
2. WinDVD Player supports much more rich features than Ulead DVD Player.
3. VR disk playing feature is been ported to InterVideo WinDVD Player from Ulead DVD Player.

Devil, I wish I have answered your question.

Hope this helps.
