AC3 for VS 7?

Post by lisam »

Hi, I have VS 7 and want to edit DVDs that have been recorded via the set top recorder. They record in dolby so therefore I am getting no sound. I see that there is a plugin for VS 8 but was hoping something was available for VS 7. I have the full version.

Thanks in advance!

Unless things have changed with that freeware filter, you need to be aware that it will decode the Dolby audio from your source, but that is all. It will not re-encode in Dolby in your final edited project. For that, you will need the AC-3 (dual channel stereo) module from Ulead which costs about US$30; or else have and use Movie Factory 3 DVD Disc Creator or DVD Workshop 1.5 or 2, which all have the AC-3 pack included.

I don't have a problem with buying the filter, I just wanted to make sure it was compatible with VS 7 before I bought it.

Thank you for the info.

Okay, I downloaded and installed this. How does it interface with VS7 again? I do have the SE verison. Will that make a difference?

Probably going to upgrade to the MF3 and VS8 package in the near future.

AC-3 filter

I downloaded the filter and placed in my VS7 directory and stomped on the .EXE. Tried capture from hard disk files and still no sound. Rebooted and nothing still. I saw a previous post that said something about modifying an UVS.INI file, but could not find it anywhere even with search.
Any help would be appreciated. I can capture non-Dolby stuff fine.
