Can't find 'Video & Audio Capture Property Settings'

Post by weebilko »

I would like to edit my video profile in VS9 but can’t seem to find ‘Manage Profile’. I plug in my Easy TV PCMCIA Cardbus (captures to MPEG only)
then:

Capture Tab>Capture Video.. Format DVD.. Options Cog wheel> the drop down menu then gives a choice of 5 Items:

Capture Options
Video Format
Input Source
Capture Properties
Video Colour Manager

There is no ‘Advance button’ on any of the 5 items so I can’t find ‘Video and Audio Capture Property Settings’ to edit but a search found a recent topic ‘Video Format List’ and there is info regarding changing an ini file, is this relevent? However as a newbie to Video Editing it looks a little complicated to me. Also is there any way to set up my external capture card to default to it as the capture source?

Apologies if the answer is already posted!

You don't say which version of Video Studio you are using. However, the point of my post in the thread to which you refer was to say that I too do not seem to have any heading 'Video & Audio Capture Property Settings' under the Options button on the Capture page either -- on both VS9 and now 10. I have the same buttons you list, and when I select my analogue capture card, I also get 'Video Compression' included in that list (plus, at the bottom of the drop-down menu, Change Capture Plug-in). The Video Compression option is the important one as far as that other thread is concerned, as it is in that one that you use to change the codec used by your card.

However, I am at a loss to explain why you and I seem to have this layout yet others appear to have the 'Video & Audio Capture Property Settings' option. As far as I can see, however, the 'Advanced' button to which they refer merely points them to headings which we already have in the Options drop-down menu.

Hi

Go to File Preferences—Capture tab

Un check the option ’Allow access to capture device settings’.

Selecting this option seems to split the properties into a list rather than one window containing tabs

Now try the options button again.

Hi Ken

Just read your reply again

Now I think I understand why we were at cross purposes earlier regarding the options/properties/advanced

All the Best

Thanks. Though the alternative is to leave it exactly as it is, which gives me a more direct access to exactly the same setttings...

Hi Ken

This is true, but the default setting is without this option checked. Most describe the capture properties using the default.

You must have selected this sometime in the past.

You're right. In retrospect, I recall checking that box, but for the life of me, I can't remember exactly why I did it!!!
