VS10 Strange Import Problem

Post by northlodge »

Hi All -

Got some DVD disks from a friend who says she burned them directly from her Sony Mini-DVD Camcorder thru Nero to her DVD burner. The disks play fine on her consumer DVD player and play fine on my computer through Windows Media Player and PowerDVD. She said that she "got some funny error message at the end of the Nero burn process but she just ignored it and the disks seem to play fine. Well, maybe so, but importing into VS10 is another matter!

When I try to "Import" from the disk, the process gets to about 30% and aborts with the message "Failed to open DVD. Report ID: 0x800408ff(2303)".

Attempting to "Open" the disk from rather than play it shows no files at all. The information on the disk shows a UDF file system and 1.36GB of data but there is no file listing at all as if the disk is blank. I have used some tools to extract the VOB file onto my hard drive but I get the same result trying to "Import from Folder".

Any ideas on this? Any help at all would be very much appreciated.

Nero may have had a problem finalizing the disk.
It's probably a bad disk.

Is there a way to finalize the disk or am I stuck bringing the VOB in as an MPG and splitting by scene?

Thanks for the reply!

 Your friend should have taken note of that error message in Nero - that could have given us the clue...

Anyway, how about copying the VIDEO_TS folder to the hard drive and then doing the import?
