I have created a .avi file for a website presentation. When I add it to video studio and play it back it looks great! If I add text, music or a voice and go to play all my quality is completely gone, and you cannot make out any words on the presentation.
I have also tested removing the txt I added with video studio and trying to play it again and the quality to the presentation is still gone. I have to actually delete it in the timeline and re-insert it for it to look good again.
Please help!
Odd - I need help

One more thing
I put just the presentation in the timeline and pressed play, it looked great! Then I just moved my cursor and clicked a different area of the timeline and pressed play, the quality is gone. Without adding any effects.

One (strong??) possibility is that, if you are doing this video for a website, then you are probably (?) using an .avi file which in reality is merely a carrier format for an mpeg-4 file. If you are not using VS10+, with its built in mpeg-4 plug-in, or VS9 with the optional mpeg-4 plug-in, then Video Studio cannot ordinarily handle mpeg-4 at all. Can you right click on one of these .avi files either in your timeline or in the library window, copy down the properties, and post them here, please.

There's some things that do not appear correct with your video file properties. One being the frame rate of 15 fps. If you are in NTSC land that should be 29.97 fps, or PAL 25fps. The second being the video size of 1004 x 632, where did that come from? I've never seen that. So that leads to a question, Where did you get this "avi" file?

Thanks
Ok here's what I see....
I used a program called SnagIt 8 which you can find at techsmith.com. Basically I created an .AVI file for an online demonstration of our website.
I wanted to add some music and an intro to it, along with a voice explaining what is happening. So with SnagIt 8 I selected the window I wanted to record by highlighting the area I wanted to record, and that is how I came up with the odd resolution. Now with the frame rate I do not see an option for more frames in the SnagIt program. What should I do?
Thank in advanced.

Ok, so that's where the odd resolutions and frame rate came from.
I never have used SnagIt, so I can't be of much help with it. I do use, Debugmode's Wink and Camstudio. They both allow either AVI or SWF.
Since your goal is not to create a DVD, then the "DVD-Compliant" file goes out the window..
Maybe someone that has used SnagIt will be better able to help..
