MovieFactory 2 sound sync problem

Post by rward39571 »

I am having a problem with the sound synching with the video on the burned disc. It is fine in the preview mode in MF, then the disc is wildly out of synch. Any ideas?

Richard,

Please tell us a little more about your source-video files, and what you are doing. The Read This First... post at the top of the forum tells you what we need to know to help you.

This problem is very common (Notice my "signature" below? :D ) and it seems to have several different causes/solutions. If you search the forum for "sync" you'll find lots of discussion and suggestions.

If you are editing MPEGs, try switching to the AVI/DV format. (It was editing MPEGs that caused my sync problems.). If you can't re-capture to AVI/DV, and you are stuck with MPEGs, I recommend that you get a special-purpose MPEG editor. (Then, you can use Movie Factory to make a DVD from your edited MPEG.)

Doug.

Thanks, and sorry to have asked a question that has been so thoroughly thrashed out before. The funny thing is, I have been using MF2 for several years and have only rarely experienced this problem. When it does arise, usually I just resend the material from my editing program, Avid Xpress Pro, and it works fine. This is the first time I have had a project that so determinedly refuses to stay in sync.
