When I choose to Create Video File under Share it plays the video back at the same time as rendering. How do you turn this off? i.e. let it just render - I don't particularly want to see the video being rendered and let's face it it uses CPU power and slows the process down ...
More Info to aid in an answer:
I've got 2 video files in the timeline that together total up over an hour.
I am saving the whole project to a Video File rather than DVD using PAL format.
I don't particularly want to watch the hour long video while it is rendering.
How do I turn off playback in Create Video File?

More info ...
Where are the original clips coming from?
If I import a DVD into the time line, slice it up and choose Share -> Create Video File -> Same as first clip , then the save is around a minute for a 40 min video and it only plays the video after it has be saved, not during ?

In fact just ran it through the process again using Same as first clip and it took seconds to process the first clip but then started playng the video when it hit the second clip and would take anouther 1 hour to process as that is the length of the second clip.
And yes the clips are produced in exactly identical format.

I just performed a series of 5 test runs using VS10 + (TBYB version) with the following results.
The clips used were captured from a DV camcorder to DV-AVI format. 1-clip is 23 secs, 1-clip 41 secs. Both are NTSC 720 x 480, PCM. Black color clips were added to the front and end, Titles were added to front and end, cross-fade transistions were added between clips. No overlays were used, and no additional audio or music, just the audio in the clips.
Did you have Smart Render checked? What appears to be occurring in your case, is that VS is seeing some change in the second clip and therefore needs to re-encode it. Editing MPEG clips can and do often pose problems. The MPEG2 clips that you are using, did you import them from a DVD?

- Test 1, had only 1 clip DV-AVI, with titles, and color clips. Created video file (Share>Create Video) Same as First Video Clip. Render time for a 23 sec clip was about 30 secs. The video only played during the portions of the video that were being rendered, ie; the titles.
- Test 2, had the same as above. Created video, Same as Project Settings, which were AVI. Render time about 20 secs. (Smart Render was checked).
- Test 3, dropped in a second 41 sec video clip, the clip properties matched those of the first clip. Created video file, Same as First Video Clip. Render time; about 1 minute.
- Test 4, same as above, Created video file Same as Project Settings. Render time; less then 1 minute. (Smart Render thingy)
- Test 5, same as above, Created video file NTSC DVD, 720 x 480, Dolby Digital 2.0 Render time: about 2 minutes.

Hi
You cannot turn off the preview screen whilst rendering. Unless VS 10 has provided this option but I think not.
Rendering takes time.
If you change the bit rate, then every frame has to undergo the process.
If you change the format Avi to Mpeg expect a full render.
On a reasonably good machine 2.5 times the run time.
If you render to add transitions, titles etc and the file properties are the same then rendering will be quicker.
What are your clip properties
Right click a video clip in the timeline or library and select properties.
Do it for both clips
What are they?
