No Capture Driver

Post by beswift »

Now I have a Desktop computer and this software with a new firewire card but with the Canon ZR600 it states that no capture driver has been loaded upon loading. Is it a non-existant capture driver?

Hi

You seem to be having lots of trouble capturing via firewire.
Read this tutorial, its very good and may give you an idea to what is going wrong.

Also to help the forum members please update your profile to include your PC spec.
Your location Pal or Ntsc may also be useful.

Hope this helps

If I find the time, I'll do all that. I'm working with two computers right now on my home network. Unfortunately, the CompUSA store I purchased the Ulead Video Studio provided verson 5.0 and nothing later.

Are you saying that CompUSA is still selling Ulead Video Studio 5?
When I got started with video editing a few years ago, I started with VS5, and it was a full, FREE program bundled with my ATI-AIW vid card..
That's got to be the most rediculous thing yet. VS5 is a phased out program, and has been for a couple of years. Talk about ripping people off...

Hi

I suggest you take version 5 back to the store and get a refund.
Version 5 is so old, its back in the stone age, nearly anyway.

Ulead are selling VS 8 full boxed version for £15 at their UK site, don’t know if its advertised in the US:-

http://www.ulead.co.uk/store/special.htm

Not that I am advising anyone to buy VS 8. as the version did have its problems.
The postage will probably cost more.

You need to think about using a newer version.

As for version 5, I do not think it automatically recognised the capture device, I had to ‘select the device control’ manually. And if I remember correctly the capture procedure had to be performed in the correct order. The tutorial although for vs9 is a good guide and shows the procedure.

All the Best

The only version being shown in the US, is VS10 or VS10 Plus. Going to Ulead Mall, USA you can no longer buy VS9, let alone any of the older versions. It seems here, once Ulead releases a newer version of a product, with the exception now of MF5, the older ones are no longer available for purchase..

Version 5

Post by beswift »

CompUSA wasn't selling Version 5 as stand alone software. It was packaged with the TI DV firewire card and a firewire cord. It was being sold by BELKIN. I have been busy with other matters and haven't got onto this yet although I attempted again to install the Camcorder through the installation process. I should call Belkin which has a good support staff in California. Your suggestions will be considered. Please keep them coming!!!
