MSP 8 vs DVD Moviefactory 5 & HD burning

Post by zooKcx »

I recently asked about HD support in MSP8 and received helpful replies pointing me towards moviefactory5 - i.e dont worry as moviefactory will support blu ray and HD-DVD. Before I take the plunge and buy moviefactory I just want to make sure I wont be wasting my money. Im not clear what it will offer over the burning package offered as part of MSP8, especially as Id guess MSP8 will offer a HD burning plugin at a later date anyway?!
Any help much appreciated.

If you have a look at the MF5 userforum, you will see that many faults are reported. For now, I'm only working with MF4 (with SPs) untill the SP for MF5 (coming when???) hopefully sorts out the problems.

The amount of template packs in MF are also very dissapointing, cutting speeds slow, etc. Ulead's burning seems to clash with other programs like Nero and Roxio. Also Ulead's quick drop 1and 2.

I only use MF4 to create the interfaces and render it to hard drive. I then use Roxio to cut my masters. Pitty, as I like to use one product for all, but MF4 (and 5) just doesn't do it.

MF4 is great for interface design, but the MF5 had huge promise for advanced interfaces. Due to the many faults, it's now standing on the shelve (money spent!) untill...

When I querried the limitations of MF5 (not all the burning features, etc.) I was informed by Ulead that it's for different purposes (application) and a sort of product on it's own. Why they offer it as an upgrade to MF4, was not answered, however.

To make the long story, longer... MF5 - not now! Maybe MF4

I have to add that I found MF5 to be very disappointing too. It has more bugs than any other commercial program i have seen. MF4 on the other hand is pretty good. Ulead needs a service pack in a big way for MF5.
