Removing unused transitions

Post by TubaDad »

In UVS9, is there any way to remove transitions that are not used, or not wanted?

I am creating a short project that I want to use the random transition selection in preferences, but there are a number of transitions that I do not want to use. There are also a number of transitions that are so close that I would like to remove most of them, like the "Mask A, B & C" selections. I have tried removing the *.VFX files, but they are still listed in the transition choices and when I try to add a number of clips VS will crash. I know it is related to it trying to use the VFX file that I have removed because it doesn't crash when I put it back in.

I have searched high and low for ini files or registry entries with no luck.

Thanks.

And of course, TubaDad, by the time you take to go through all this, you could have inserted all the transitions you like manually, instead of trying to remove those you don't like -- manually --- and then letting the program insert, arbitrarily, those you may -- or may not -- like???? What's happening here????

Ken,
I have already done the manual transition thing to clean up what was put in place, but this is not the last one that I am going to be doing. But, manually changing the transitions on a 300 picture slide show is painful. I do want to see if I can clean up the unused transitions for the next time.

Another thing I had not noticed in the past is that the random setting is not quite as random as I think it should be. What it has done, with several tests, is that it gives me random transitions from each group. What I have seen is that I get a number of the 3D transitions, then I get a number of the Album transitions, and so on. But they are all grouped together, all of the 3Ds together, then all of the Albums together. It would be better if it was pulling the random out of the VFX directory.

Just trying to build a better moustrap. :D

Thanks.
