Well, I just HAD to try it. Wanted to see if it was finally possible to edit without sync problems but quickly found that nothing had changed in that department. It seems ridiculous that this program can't even get close to what you get with Womble.
But wait, there's MORE:
Gee, get ready to capture, set the sound at DD 256 - click OK and BAM without so much as a "Howdy Do" it decides to switch the capture audio down to 128 kbps. What Tha?!!! So now what I got was not what I thought I had. So now I have to save it TWICE. Also, it automatically defaults back to 128 whenever you change the data rate. So whenever the data rate (or perhaps other stuff) is changed I find I must save twice before actually capturing.
So what do I do now? Leave files at 128 I guess, since I doubt if it will improve even if I upsample to a higher rate? After all, you can't get more than what's there, isn't that right? This is discouraging since I can't re-capture the content. I've never had this happen with VS9. With VS9 once you set the audio IT STUCK.
Still more:
Set the recording levels and find that they must constantly be reset before each and every capture. And it doesn't matter if you don't touch anything between capture sessions. The only exception being when I capture consequetively (sp?). But once you close the program all bets are off. It must be reset or you don't know what you are getting. Also, in that regard, there is another litte snafu:
Once you set the recording levels and begin capturing, BETTER NOT TOUCH YOUR SYSTEM VOLUME or you will find that somehow it effects the RECORDING volume. I can't remember this happening before either. This fun "feature?" helped botch a number of recordings before I figured it out.
Oh well, learned my lessons the hard way yet again. But could someone tell me what I should do about the audio with these files? I've never captured anything this low rate before. I'm kind of a sound person. Would they be worth putting on disk?

DV -> MPEG-2 Audio Sync Problem
I am capturing some footage to my PC via my Sony DV Camcorder. My PC is a 2GHz PC with 1GB RAM. I have no other apps running and all necessary processes terminated before starting VideoStudio 10 Plus.
I tried capturing straight to MPEG-2 and had audio sync issues. So I captured the video to DV AVI. The AVI file is in perfect sync. Then I tried converting the DV AVI it to MPEG-2 4400KB/sec, 192KB 2Channel Dolby Digital. Still Audio Sync issues.
Any suggestions.
