I bought a boxed version of VS7.
I liked it and couldn't wait for the boxed version of VS8 so purchased the download version when it was announced.
My old PC didn't have much RAM and so I was pushing the limits of video editing so didn't bother with VS9.
I now have a brand new PC that should be more than capable of running VS10 and am interested in upgrading to the latest version.
I see on the Ulead site that the upgrade policy is such that people who bought previous versions of the s/w qualify for a discount.
But that you have to buy the software through Ulead.
That's fair enough but will I get the FULL version if I download it?
Or should I wait for the boxed version to come out - whenever that will be.
I'm sure that when I downloaded the ESD version of VS8 I didn't get half the stuff in the boxed version of VS8 and as such, don't want to make the same mistake again.
The other question I have is can I do a straight install of VS10 when I receive the software?
Or do I have to install VS7 then upgrade to VS8 and then upgrade to VS10?
I don't want to do this because of all the junk the various versions leave around.
I remember a few years ago having to wipe my hard disk and re-install XP again from scratch. This time around, I only installed the download version of VS8 and the end result was I didn't have half the software I had when previously upgrading from VS7 (eg library files and extra content).

Nick,
I had a copy of VS7 SE from an old video card I purchased. I purchased the VS10+ "upgrade" download from Ulead. I uninstalled VS7 and clean installed VS10+, along with the Extra Content and Bonus Pack. It first asked me for my new VS10+ serial number, which was provided once I made the purchase. It then asked me to enter in my OLD serial number for VS7. I assume that was to verify I was eligible for the "upgrade" price. It must be the same download as the "full" version, but that extra serial number check makes it an "upgrade." Once I did that, it completed the install. Hope that helps.

Re: Upgrade to VS10
Last Year I didn't have broadband and downloaded VS9 ESD via modem plus ordered the backup disc. I can't say I noticed anything on the 2 CD's that arrived that I didnt have via the ESD download (Program then content packs)NickArmitage wrote:Will I get the FULL version if I download it?

This year I'm on broadband - wow - what a difference!
