PhotoExplorer 8.6 hangs

PhotoExplorer 8.6 hangs or is extremely slow when looking at a directory of JPG image files only.

I have a Dell 670 Precision work station running Windows XP Professional with plenty of ram and a over 200 GB free hard drive space.

Here is the Event Viewer error message:
Hanging application Pex.exe, version 8.6.0.0, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

The application hangs before I can even go to the directory with the images. My Thumbnail images are 96 x 96 pixels.

Any suggestions?

Do You have by chance a large zip file in the folder?
Apparently Photo Explorer tries to decompress it an gets dead slow.

I do not have a zip file but the files are on another computer. It seems like Explorer does not like that.
