HELP!
I've had an ongoing problem with VS8 and VS9 which I wonder if anyone has encountered.
When using the Edit Title area and clicking on Border/Shadow/Transparency my PC errors with the following message and terminates the program.
The error message is: The instruction at "0x73dd11c7" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.
My PC is a Compaq Presario SR1499AN with 1GB RAM
I think the error has occurred at other points in VS but this one I can replicate 100% of the time.
I'd appreciate any help.

Red -- that sort of error message normally comes when there is a problem, not with VideoStudio or any other program as such, but with your RAM. I have had it, and had to run tests on my RAM. I had a couple of tests, but had to run both for periods in excess of 15 minutes before both picked up an error in one particular sequence. I didn't want to believe it as both sticks of 512 MB at the time were only a few weeks old (or rather, were in a computer I had only bought a few weeks earlier). But when I replaced -- reluctantly, as we all do -- the stick designated as faulty (after separately testing each stick), the problem went away and never returned. Not saying this is your problem, but you must check. You can download a RAM test from the Microsoft site (don't have the address) but I am sure you can also find another easily with a Google search too...

Problem still exists with Memory
Hi Ken,
After many months and some infrequent use of Videostudio, I just got around to replacing the memory on the PC.
I did as you suggested regarding testing the existing memory at the time and came up dry.
I just loaded 2 GB of Kingston into the machine tonight and immediately went to VS, exactly the same issue arises.
Needless to say - fairly disappointing!!!
Any other thoughts perchance? I'm really looking to go further into VS with hours of home videos to download and work on, but this is really getting to me.

I can assure you that your problem has nothing to do with VS. It is hardware/OS related and it is not VS that has the problem is't your OS. The memory that VS is trying to access is locked by Windows or faulty.
