Audio problem with older version

Post by Sweet T »

Hi all,
I am new to this and got Ulead with my TV Tuner box (less than a year old). It's VideoStudio 8. I have a Sony mini DVD handycam and I use Ulead to extract the VOB files so that I can create AVI or WMV files for website viewing. The problem I have is getting the audio to play. I am still new to this but definitely learning the hard way after painful purchases of supposed "great quality" dvd rippers. NOT! Anyhow, this is the best software that I have found where the quality is outstanding. Is there a plugin or an upgrade that I can use to support my audio so that I can hear it as I am editing or am I outaluck and need to pay for a new version?

Thanks,
tina

I assume your camera makes DVDs with Dolby AC3 sound.

Your best choice is to upgrade to VS10 ($60.00). (I'm waiting 'till the boxed version is available.) You can download the trial, but the trial version may not have AC3. (In the past, the trials have not included it... I don't think Dolby allows any free use.)

AC3 has been included, starting with VS9. There is also an improved DVD Import tool. But, you should try that first to make sure it works with DVDs from your camcorder.... Some users report problems with DVDs from their stand-alone players.

There was an AC3 plug-in for VS8, but it was almost the same price as the upgrade to VS9. And, I'm not sure the plug-in would have worked with your "free" SE version.

It worked perfect. I downloaded the trial version and it came out super fantastic. Created an awesome WMV file...with only a slight amount of quality reduction. The audio worked fine.

Thanks!!
