I have recently bought a HD Camcorder (Sony HDR-HC3) and having reviewed a few editing packages decided that VS 10 + was the most cost effective way to go to get HD Video on to my computer. I downloaded VS 10 + from the web and succeeded in capturing my first HD video to PC. My Question is Which format is the best to render the edited movie in for keeping on Hard drive and playing in Windows Media player 10 in HD format ? I was stunned by the comparison of SD and HD video demonstrated on Toms Hardware site during the review of the Sony HDR-HC1 and he saved the video in WMV9 format. Will VS 10 + do this ?

The fastest workflow that results in the best quality is to keep the HD video in it's original format: Mpeg2 1440x1080 @ 25,000 kbps video bitrate. If you want to experiment with more highly compressed video, I recommend using Divx rather than WMV format. See HD Tutorial http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=9854
Windows Media Player playsback HD video poorly. Use Media Player Classic instead - download here http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Med ... lassic.htm
