Difficulties while video/audio multiplexing with version 5

Post by pol54 »

Hello, I'm using since many years movie factory without any problems. Since yesterday i've installed Movie factory 5 and now i have problems with burning a DVD. I have installed the software on both my PCs ( 3.2 ghz, 320 gb harddisk, 2 gh memory) and the same problem. I edit my movies with pinnacle 9.3 and make mpg2 video format. Then I import these mpg2 in Moviefactory 5 and make a menu. Everything works fine until I push burn... the system freezes while : VIDEO/AUDIO MULTIPLEXING !!!! I've tried everything , nothing works. Can you help me to solve this problem????

Where do you have the working folder assigned to?
Do you have enough disk space left?

That is where the temporary files are being processed prior to burning to dvd.

If you click on the downarrow on the right side of the screen to display addtional burning parameters what happens if you do this:

Uncheck "Create Disk"
Check On "Create Dvd folders on Harddisk" or similar wording. Naviagate to a NTFS partitiion drive with enough disk space and select / mark a folder for dvd folders creation.

Check On "Create image file" and burn that on a NTFS partition.

MF5 multiplexing problems

Post by pol54 »

Thank you for the tips but I already tried them.

The working folder is another directory specialy created and there is 200GB left.

Neither create DVD folder of create Image file is working. Always the programs fails while audio/video multiplexing.

On the same pc's i have installed MF4 and everything is working perfect!!!with the same mpg2 files.

Even a re-install (all traces of MF5 were removed) of MF5 didn't solve the problem.

I have this problem with both my pc's (tried the MF5 on my other pc).

Is this a known bug, and so yes, will there be an update soon??? E-mail to the Ulead helpdesk has been send but no answer at this moment.

I can use all help or tips to solve this problem.

Once you have video on the time line, click on the gear on the bottom left of the screen and in the project settings check the box the says Treat MPEG Audio as Non DVD Compliant. After you check the box try to create a disk, suggest image or folders.

What version of MF5 are you using?
The trial or the ESD versions (registered version).

What is the format/properties of the source mpeg2 files. I'm thinking more on the audio properties having a problem.
If your using the trial version it's possilbe your audio is dolby and you don't have the decoder in MF5 if it's the trial version.

MF5 multiplexing problems

Post by pol54 »

I downloaded the registered version from the Ulead website and received an e-mail with the code and extra content link.

Properties of the mpeg2 : 720x576, VBR, 7000kBits/sec and audio is MPA(MPEG -1 layer 2) with sample freq. 48 kHz an 224 kBits/sec.

I have re-installed the MF4 , using the same mpeg2-files, applying all possible menu items and everything works fine!!!

It's strange that I have the same problem on both my pc's. One pc is nearly brand new and no other ulead software has been installed on that pc.

I've seen that other users have a simular problem and I wonder how they managed??

So I have a non working product and what can Ulead do about it?

Still hoping that this forum can give a solution....

Hi,
This may or maynot be related but MF5 does have a bug with the bit-rate being variable.

Try creating the mpeg2 file using Constant bit-rate from Pinnacle or
export it out in MF5 with the same video/audio properties except change
the variable to Constant7000kbs (hope it fits).

I would give that a shot because then you would know if it's a bug or not.
Somethings definitely up. You know what your doing and MF4 works.
I don't think there's anything left for you to try except changing the bit-rate to constant OR drop the bit-rate to 4200 variable.

MF5 troubles

Post by pol54 »

Hi,

First of all, many thanks for your help to solve this problem.

I took several projects in Pinnacle, have them rendered to mpeg2, 720x576, CBR 7000 kbs - audio mpeg1 -layer2, 48 khz, 224 kbs

Took them into MF5 with the same properties ( see compression tab).

Set up a menu with 5 mpeg2 and tried to burn, to make a DVD map, and to make an ISO file.......Every attempt freezes while audio/video multiplexing.........

Normaly I render my Pinnacle projects even to 8000 kbs VBR and MF4 has no problem with that!!

I hope a recieve a valuable answer from Ulead's help desk ...because this is going nowhere.

Do you know people with the same problem and what they have done to solve it??

I think they might want you to send a sample file to them.

There is an option under "Preferences" (F6) key to create an index file to improve syncing etc. Could try that but I'm at a loss, mine is working OK but
I have to encode at Constant Bit Rate.

I don't understand why MF4 works and MF5 doesn't. Unless something in the menus is fluky.

Hopefully they will be releasing a patch soon. Maybe that will fix your problem.
