I am getting this horizontal line interference as I am copying to Ulead to capture. The source plays O. K. through normal vewing. I am setting up per this sites instructions. My hardware:
Celeron 1.7 GH; 512 MB RAM; PNY VertoGeforceFX 5200 AGP video card; Pinnacle Studio AV/DV capture card; analog 8 mm video camera; Windows 98SE.
I have captured & edited one family DVD with success and made additional copies, but they all had this interference.
I am wondering if the capture card or the graphics card may be the culprit. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Someone who actually has a Pinnacle capture card may be able to offer more, or better, advice. However, my understanding is that the Pinnacle cards use proprietary hardware which only works with Pinnacle products. In other words, I imagine the card probably came bundled with some older version of Pinnacle Studio, and you would need to use that for capture. You can then transfer the captured files into Ulead Video Studio for editing.

What do you mean by horizontal line interference? Can you post a frame grab from the file you captured?
Practically all analog capture devices will intentionally output a horizontal bar when they detect (correctly or otherwise) that the input contains a Macrovision subsignal. If you are trying to capture a commercial VHS tape or DVD, that may be your problem.

I'm not sure what you mean with the horizontal lines, but when I load certain video clips (from several sources) into VideoStudio, it sometimes shows vertical lines on its playback screen. However, after editing and rendering and playing back on other devices there is no problem. I guess it's a display glitch on my VS10.
If you want a simple solution for capturing, get yourself a stand-alone digital video recorder (DVR), particularly one with a hard drive. I'm sure others here will recommend probably "better" items, but DVRs will not hog your PC when they capture, will record from TV beautifully and camcorders flawlessly, and are very reliable. I even hook my VCR into it to capture VHS. It's been a very productive solution for me.
I then transfer the video by DVD-RW to my PC and VS then edits it, etc. and then I burn a final permanent copy.
Anyway, my biggest point here is, STAY AWAY FROM PINNACLE!!! I, along with many many others, have gotten burned using their HORRIBLE products. I've had terrible frustrations with them since 2000. I was even stupid enough to give them another chance in 2004 with their latest then.
I'm not sure what your problem is exactly, but I can bet big money that if you throw away your Pinnacle equipment and get something else, you will save yourself many headaches. I sure did.
Good luck.
