VS8: Pull from DVD question

Post by rcurzon »

I want to pull some European PAL video from a DVD, and resynch the audio and video, write it back to DVD.

VS8 can pull MPEG files off VOB files on a DVD, but it seems to arbitrarily divide it into 5-6 minute chunks that can't be seamlessly put together again. There's a fraction of a second dropout between each when you put them on the timeline and make an MPEG.

Is there a way to get a single seamless MPEG off a DVD, using supplementary tools if necessary?

thanks

Hi Richard

I do not have VS 8 installed on my pc but from memory.

When you use the option Insert Dvd/Dvd-Vr

You are shown a window in which to select ‘titles and chapters’

If I remember correctly selecting only ‘titles’ will import one file, selecting the chapters will split the import files.

Hope this Helps

Hi Richard,

VS8's Import from DVD function will split the import into separate Titles each time it sees a chapter mark. Your source probably has chapter marks at each split interval.

In VS9 and VS10, Ulead added an option to import as one long Title or separate chapters.

Once you've imported the video I have written a guide showing a simple method of resynching the audio/video which may help:

unfortunately, resync is the only part that seems to me to be straightforward, it was already easy in VS8 ;-).

Now... if anyone can figure how to get rid of the chapter change dropouts ... that I'd pay for ;-)... VERY annoying, I'd read a couple of places that newer Video Studio got around this and I'm very disappointed to see there's no improvement.
