Dolby demo / trailer DVD - Cool!

Post by DVDDoug »

I bought a Dolby demo DVD from the Dolby Store for only $5.00. (It's on the "clearance" web page, so there might be limited quantities.)

It has 6 or 7 Dolby Digital "Theatrical Trailers", and IT'S NOT CSS-COPY PROTECTED! (Of course it is copyrighted, so I wouldn't recommend using the trailers on a commercial project without permission.)

I copied the whole DVD onto my hard drive to confirm that it's not copy protected, but I did not try putting the trailers on my own DVD yet. ...There might be difficulties with that, because the trailers have multiple soundtracks (2-channel, 5.1 channel, etc.)

Pity they dont have a UK branch, the shipping charge is $45 yet the item is only $5 which means it's 9 times the cost of the item just for the shipping!

 WOW!

Plus, It would be NTSC. I think it was about $5.00 to ship it locally, plus about $0.40 state sales tax*. And, I ordered a hat too. It doesn't seem as bad when the shipping charge applies to more than one item. :D

Just for kicks, I checked the United States Postal Service web site. It looks like it would be $5.00 - $10.00 to postal-mail it to the UK, and it would get there in less than a week.

* You wouldn't have to pay that. In fact, people ordering from other states don't have to pay tax... If you order something from another state, its the buyer's responsibility to pay the tax in their home state, if any is due. Every state is different and some states don't have any sales tax.... I don't think many people actually do that!
