clip should end up as a still

Post by Sektionschef »

Dear all
I like to do the following with VS9 but could not find a solution yet:
the final movie should play a clip from the time line. if the clip is over the last frame of the clip should stay for some seconds like a still picture. During these additional seconds I want to zoom and pan in this still picture. The clip is 16:9.
What I did:
put the clip on the timeline. selected the last frame and selected "save as still image". Added that still to the timeline and adjusted the length for some seconds.
Problem:
It seems that the still picture changes its aspect ratio back to 4:3 so it does not fit to the 16:9 clip. This is all hard to explain best is if someone could try it out.
Thanks for any hints on this

Hi Sektionschef

You need to save the frame from project not the image from clip.

Make sure you are in project playback with your last frame selected.

Tools----Save Current Frame as Image

This should save an image the same as your frame size, that is 16:9

Hi Sektionschef

Select the frame you want to copy
Click the ‘Project’ word adjacent to the start button

Or

In timeline view:-
Clicking the timeline rule will revert to project playback mode and start playing from the down arrow (project playback indicator.) if that’s what they are called?

Hi Sektionschef

Tip

If you are working in 16:9 you cannot always identify the whole frame because the background colour is black by default.

If you change the background colour to say yellow (File Preferences) you can see the frame as yellow. Any black top and bottom are unused areas of the preview screen.

So when you insert an image/video you will be able to identify the frame and whether it is full.

It is very useful when working with the overlay track.

Try it with a 4:3 image/video

Remember to change the colour to black before rendering, any yellow is part of the frame and will be rendered.
