Joining and enhancing video clips.

I've got 16 video clips that I'd like to 1) Put a text title on the 1st scene of each one and 2) join them so they'll play one after the other. I'd also like each one to be a chapter that could be jumped to; however, that's not absolutely necessary. Apparently, once I enhance a video by putting text on it, I can't join it to another clip. Is there any way around this?
