Anyone burned an HD-DVD yet? VS10

Post by jfkeenan »

Are there any PC solutions for HD-DVD burning yet?
I'd being willing to buy the new Toshiba HD-DVD player so I could watch my Sony HC1 recordings, but I haven't seen any HD-DVD burners yet. VS10+ says id supports HD burning but to what?

See HD Tutorial at http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=9854 for suggestions on capture, editing, and playback.

While you are waiting a few years for HD-DVD players and media to become affordable, have a look at the IO Data AVLP2 $250 http://www.iodata.com/usa/products/prod ... P2%2FDVDLA , which is able to play high definition video files directly from ordinary DVD disks.

No need to wait for HD-DVD burners/disks; you can burn HD-DVD projects to standard DVD+/-R that will play in the Toshiba HD-DVD player. Using this method you can get ~20 minutes on a single layer DVD+/-R or ~40 min on a dual layer disk. See this thread over on AVS:

HD is still in the infant stages.
1) You need a HD camcorder ($1700 - $5000)
2) A powerful PC to process & edit HD
3) a HD DVD player, just started to hit the market ($400 - $800)
4) Two different formats (HD DVD & Blue-Ray)..which will evetually win out is anybody's guess.
5) Double sided disks to burn HD
6) An HD TV to view.

So as you can read, for me HD is yrs away.......
iMac AIO (late 2012)
Windows 7 (bootcamp)
VS Pro X3
8gb RAM
1 - 1TB HD
1 - 120 SSD
1 - 2TB External HD
Panasonic DVC-30
