Won't import DVD

I've been using the trial version of DVD MovieFactory 5.0. I tried to import a home movie from DVD. It quickly moved through 61% and then quit. I waited several minutes but it did nothing more. I might have suspected the DVD itself except that version 3.0 had no trouble with it.

Wrong board but VideoStudio 10 trial had exactly the same problem.

Not sure there's anything to do but if you have any thoughts I'd love to hear them.
