Gang,

I just looked at ULEADs site. I have no idea if this is the news that Devil is going to fill us in on.. but here is what I just found.

Ulead Announces Smart Compositor Template Pack April 25, 06
http://www.ulead.com.tw/ulead/UDNews/pr ... e=News.htm

If they can announce this and maybe the Service Pack soon too, YEAH BABY!

In Africa we talk about Africa time - referring to slow. It looks like the rest of the world is even slower.

Was hoping that the countdown is in hours (or min.) Don't know if I can wait 9 days for an SP (If that's the SURPRISE!).

Well on my side of the world it's nearly noon, so...

 8.5

It's the SP1 public beta, due to happen on May 5 for three weeks.

Considering what happened with the first MSP7 update, I'll be installing it on a nonvital machine and tinkering with test projects, not the ones I earn a living from.

Well, the news is out, including an official announcement for release of the definitive version "in May"

I can say it seems very robust. I have great difficulty in provoking a crash. Most reported bugs have been addressed. The anti-shake filter isn't bad, although there is room for improvement at this moment (not yet definitive). The surround sound has been GREATLY improved: I can now get it to do exactly what I want. Work is still in progress, though, so I can't give precise details.

Tomorrow will be EIGHT :D

Well I hope they've sorted out all the bugs I reported to them in the Smart Compositer Designer then.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Vidoman who spent countless hours assisting me with various tests to confirm that these were bugs and not my machine/workflow etc.

Bug fixes?

Post by pennstat »

Whereas the document shows what features will be added, is there a list of what bugs will be fixed? At this point I'm more interested in bug fixes ... although the anti-shake filter will be incredibly welcome.

There is a list, but it is not yet for publishing as it is still work in progress. You will get a list with the public beta on the 5th of its state at that time.

I've been busy the past few weeks but had the chance to check out the Ulead site again. Lo and Behold....I see the announcement for the smart compositor template pack! woo hoo! Can't wait but I hope it does not cause my system to go haywire on install.

I'm looking forward to the SP1 and the mentioned 'anti shake' feature. I wonder how good this will actually work! Again though i'm hoping the install does not make my system go bonkers like some of the other installs have in the past. *crosses fingers

I thought the actual official release was slated for May -- are you saying they are releasing a public beta of the Service Pack that we are expected to test?

Why not? As long as it is labelled as such, why is it a problem?

If you rely on MSP8 to be working, don't install it. It's a beta. If you dont rely on it, or you have a second machine (as I do) that you can try it out on, then you can help out.

There is no incentive or demand for you to install it. If you can help, and want to, it's there for you to do so.

One of my favourite anecdotes is my first day working for a photocopier company (whose name begins with "X") as a software tester. I was given my shiny new user ID and password, and told to go familiarise myself with the system. The system instructed me to enter my details and press {F10} so I entered "winkywankywoo" and pressed {F9}. I got into the system with administrator privileges and was able to do so much that was supposed to be impossible such as deleting invoices - on my first day! Heads didn't exactly roll, but it was a major embarrassment for everyone, including the test department.

My point is that as long as you tell customers that this is test software, there is nothing to be lost when they find problems. When you release it, it better be watertight. Remember what happened with the first MSP7 update?
