Lightning Affect

Post by mjstehn »

I am trying to create an affect where a lightning bolt appears to shoot down and then make text appear. I have the lightning bolt affect working, but I am not sure how to make the text just appear. I set the text to black on the first keyframe and then to a color when the lightning bolt shoots, but the text color changes from black to the color gradually, I want it to just appear. I am new to Cool 3d and this is probably easy, but I need help. Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

You don't need to have the color set to black, or whatever your background color is. Instead just set the text color to what you want it to be. Then find the Show/Hide Icon. Highlight your text, and Frame 1. Click the show/hide icon. It is now hidden. Go to the frame where you want the text to appear, and with that frame and the text highlighted click the show/hide icon again. It should have placed a keyframe on that frame. The text should now be hidden until that frame...

OK, I got that Thank. How about is there an easy way for the lightning bolt to return to it's original position and then shoot again to allow more text to appear, basically like a cast, so it need to do this 4 or 5 times. Thanks,

Mike
