Anyone know to how to accomplish this special effect?

Post by garyb1966 »

Sorry if this is off topic, I'm not sure if this forum is for technical problems only or not. I have a creative problem...

There is a popular effect that has recently become used ALOT in horror movies. In fact, it has been used so much it has started to become slightly hack in my opinion - but I still wanna try it.

The best I can describe it is a kinda creepy jumpiness. The ghost (or assorted monster) appears to quiver/jump around/vibrate/jerk around or whatever you wanna call it. You can see examples of what I'm talking about in '13 Ghosts' and about 50 other recent horror movies whose titles I can't think of right now. It doesn't look like it would be too hard to create, but I don't know how to start.

BTW...can anyone recommend an actual, real, physical book (as in I go to the bookstore and take it off the shelf) for teaching VS? This is how I learn things best, by reading books. But it looks like there is not one for VS. Bookstores have LOTS of books for other video editing packages, but I can't find one specifically geared to VS. Thanks 8)

Not sure about your FX, but a good book/download for VS9 (and, I assume, soon for VS10) can be found here: http://www.getting-results.com/
