In the past Dolby has never been included with the trial versions. I assume the same is true of VS10.
While I'm "assuming"... I've always assumed that Dolby does not allow any free use of their technology.

As you probably know, VS10+ trial has the ability to convert audio to 5.1.
If the trial does not work, I'm ok with that. But will it work in the upgrade version???
Has anybody here have any success with 5.1?
Thanks........

FWIW, I have just done a quick test using a few short clips, with their native audio, and added background music. When I rendered it to a new file, I chose a template with Dolby 5.1. The end result certainly seems to be surround sound, and the properties of the new file (which rendered smootly and quickly) also show it. I did not, however, play with the Surround Sound Mixer which now appears on the Audio page, so I can't yet comment on how well panning might work when using 5.1.

Hi Ken,
Is the template you refer to the "PAL DVD (4:3, Dolby Digital 5.1)" that is found through Share-Create Video File? If so, what are your settings for your project? I'm having no luck and keep encountering errors when trying to render a project using surround sound.
I've also tried creating a .wav audio file as "PCM 48,000khz 16 Bits 5.1 Channels" from the original clip. I then split the audio/video on the original clip and then delete the audio. I insert my created .wav audio file into the voice track but still encounter errors when rendering as 5.1. However, I do have success when rendering using Dolby Digital 2 channel in my settings but this converts my .wav file back to 2 channel. Any suggestions? Thanks.
