Hmmm - hardly a tutorial on the "Ken Burns" effect - more a tutorial on how to use pan and zoom. Even then, it's not very efficient because you're using three clips for the different parts of the move, rather than using one clip and setting different keyframes within the pan/zoom filter. If the editor wanted to change the end point of clips 1 or 2, he'd have to change the start point of clips 2 and 3 as well.
There's more to Ken Burns' films than moving and zooming. It's done with selective use of movement over the still to divert the viewer's attention to the area the editor wants, crossfading between the images, and the use of soft mattes to allow two images to feather into each other onscreen.

I found Mike's free tutorial very helpful. I agree It's not a complete tutorial on the "Ken Burns" effect. However, it opens up a whole new world of ideas for my slide show projects. Thanks Mike!
You know Gorf, it's very easy to criticize others work. Mike has put some work into all his free tutorials (www.seeitdoit.tv) and we SHOULD BE ENCOURAGING others who contribute to this fine forum - NOT KNOCKING THEM DOWN!!!
I don't see anything from you Gorf!!!
Keep up the good work Mike. Hope you create some more video tutorials.

You obviously haven't looked very hard, then.kish99 wrote: I don't see anything from you Gorf!!!
It's not a case of kicking anyone. When I post advice that's wrong, or simply not the best workflow, I welcome anyone who can point out the error of my ways. If Mike has a problem with being told a better way of using the facilities available, I'm sure he'll say so.

There's ways to give constructive comments.
you obviously need some lessons in P.R.
By the way his stuff is not WRONG. It may not be complete, but it's certainly not wrong!!
Anyway, i'm done with you and I will certainly NOT be looking at any of your so called stuff.
You know there's always one in any forum Gorf.

Looks like there's quite a bit of activilty on this thread.
OK, guys. I love critisism in a constructive way and I thank Gorf for that.
Maybe calling it The "Ken Burns Effect - well kind of"
might have been better. I was just hoping it would spark ideas. You know food for thought.
kish99 thanks for your support also.
Keep it coming guys. That way we can all improve.
Thanks
