help with video studio 9

please help. I am capturing from my DV camcorder on my computer which is a pentium III & only 256 RAM, so I am capturing as AVI. I capture to my external hard drive (120 GB) and I take that hard drive and plug it into my laptop which is where I do my editing.

When I finally want to burn my project, it keeps taking too long. One time I let it sit for 10 hrs and it did not burn. I tried to render it from AVI to MPEG, but still taking too long. Now I am trying to render it back to AVI, that is taking a long time also.

Also, my video sometimees jumps, studders, freezes. I have followed the guidelines according to ulead & the "RECOMMENDED PROCEDURES" from this forum.

What you haven't told us is the important information about your laptop - what spec ? what processor ? how much RAM ?? what speed (RPM ) does the hard disc run at ??

Also what settings are you using in UVS ??
