Anyone waiting till "10" kinks are fixed?

Post by raygo »

hi,
I always thought most people wait a bit when a new UVS version comes out for obvious reasons..reading a lot of glitches so far with new 10.

Anyway, will the standard " save as a video file 1st then burn rules still apply to this new version?

What is the problem with creating a video file 1st and then burn it? I create the dvd files on disc first, and try them out before I burn it to disc.

And if *most* people waited after a new version came out there wouldn't be enough people using it to find any 'kinks' in it . remember that all new versions are 'beta' tested anyrate and that will find many of the bugs - sure a few get through but thats always been the case with computer software.

The only thing I wait for is the boxed version - as soon as that is released I will buy - I have seen so many people with problems when using the download version (read some of the posts here already) that I refuse to mess up my computer with a download.

Brian,

Any reputable software company would not have released a version of software that was as bug-ridden as V8. It was taking money under false pretences and must have done the company as much harm as good.

On the other hand, without all those OOS and other problems, we wouldn't have such a good community bulletin board :D

I also plan to buy the boxed version for exactly the same reason you stated..

I have "no problem" saving as a video file 1st then burning.[ JVALKS]

Just wanted to confirm that I would use the same routine as previous versions. always worked like a charm for me before.

I'm waiting for the box too. I like having the CD and a printed manual. (Plus, I'm on dial-up at home.)

Of course, they are stamping the CDs now with today's version of the software. There will probably be updates to download when I get it.

About a year ago I bought a program from Ontrack I had a problem with the website, so I called them. It talked to a real person... a knowledgable person! They sent me the CD version AND gave me a download-code at no extra charge.

LOL! Wow, fearless soldiers... I'm not worthy  I just couldn't stand the wait. I figured worst case scenario, if the download didn't pan out I'd grovel to Element 5 for a refund and wait it out the boxed version. Thankfully Ulead seemed to have it together this time and (so far) my VS10+ installation is working perfectly. That said, had I known the download version didn't include a repair option (generally faster than re-installing) I probably would have held out for the CD-ROM.

No doubt you're right... but sometimes "reputable" is best defined by whoever's pulling the strings at any given time. When Avid acquired Pinnacle, they apparently rushed Studio 10 without proper beta testing. The result was a complete train-wreck (and that's being polite). Thankfully the Intervideo/Ulead fusion seems to be yielding top notch software as we had all hoped :-)

History shows us that Ulead are a good compnay, but that their Video Studio products always need significant patching during the first three months after the release. The patches are always successful, so either buy now and wait for the patches, or buy in three months and patch immediately.
