Splicing together chapters

Post by jmdeacon »

I am using DVD MovieFactory 5. I am tyring to edit video captured from a DVD that I recorded. The video was successfully imported and I edited out what I did not want, but when I play the resulting disc, a pause between chapters is present where I don't want it. Looking back at the project, I see that multiple chapters were imported from the source disc. When the source disc was made, it was auto chaptered every few minutes, so a chapter appears right in the middle of a scene.

Is there a way to get rid of these auto chapters on import of the media, or is there a way to splice 2 chapters into 1 chapter in the MovieFactory program?

Thanks,

John

Yes I would like an answer to this as well as I experience the same problem when viewing on a dvd player although plays okay on the computer.

Hi,
It depends on how the dvd was originally recorded.

When you import the dvd you want to get the complete video from the dvd as one file if possible.
To do that click in the box at the very top that points to the main video file. Then all the chapters will be included.
After you import the complete video as one file then when you multi-trim or edit the video it's still only one file when MF finishes with it.

The way you imported the dvd you created multiple mpeg2 files (video files) of the video on the harddisk by selecting the individual chapters. That will cause a delay on any dvd player.
Even commercial dvd's have a delay between video files so you want to try and keep the video as ONE file that has chapter marks in it.

Hope this helps,
MD
