what's included in the Content Pack of Video Studio 10+
I am curious to know if we lose anything with 10 that was included in 9, especially the transitions. Do we get anything new. I own every other version and transfer my settngs when I upgrade. I did download the trial and know it is incomplete. I just need to know if 10 is worth the upgrade as I don't see where Movie Factory was. I can work around the multiple layers if need be, and I don't need the HD things (yet!) In the trial, I'm not seeing much improvement for what I use.

I would consider VS10 Plus to be a significant upgrade but as you say, it really depends on which of the features you'll be using. That said, even putting the HD features aside, VS10 Plus offers quite an assortment of new whistles and bells. The UI has also been improved and (on my PC) the program runs faster and smoother than VS9.
Here's a link for a feature comparison of VS9 versus both versions of VS10:

... and a download link for the complete feature list in pdf format:

VS10 does include some nice new templates however you'd probably want to import your VS9 and/or MF4 templates, frames, etc., as many are not included in VS10.
