Media Studio 7 SP2 crashes often

Hi - I'm using Media Studio Pro V7 SP2 on a dual processor Xeon with 2gb of RAM and all kinds of disk and in trying to render a small video the process crashes every time (not always in the same place but usually at the end of an overlay) with a message that it could not read a memory address 0000004.

The MSP7 Preview files directory is on another physical disk entirely with over 200gb of disk space available and the working disk has over 300gb of space available.

If I render it in tiny pieces I can usually get it to function but that's a royal pain (tiny = less than 10 seconds at a whack).

I've tried it with a clean boot and cutting out everything else that's running but to no avail.
