Video Studio 10 - Surround Mixer Question

Post by ss_lbs »

I've just downloaded the trial version of VS 10, with great hopes/expectations of the 5.1 surround mixer. However, I can't figure out how to actually pan sound.

I select the track, choose a point and set the surround mixer as desired, I then move to another poiunt on the track and set the mixer to a new setting. When I go back the positional information doesn't seem to have been saved.

Any ideas?

ok, I found the answer (how stupid do i feel!?)

You have to press the play button in the Surround Mixer Control Panel and do it live.

Is there no way of doing this in a non-live fashion?

I have had the same problems. I have noticed, though, that when you make the changes while the sound is playing several little boxes are created on the audio display. These can be dragged to different positions after the fact, which helps a little.

Don't waste your time with the trial version with surrend sound. It won't burn in Dobly Digital until you upgrade to the full version.

I know from experience that I wasted 3+ hrs trying to get 5.1 sound in the trial version.
