Digital Anarchy Background Designer in photoimpact?

Post by sek0910 »

Does anyone know if Digital Anarchy's Background Designer plugin (for photoshop and photoshop compatible applications) works in Photoimpact, and if so, how do you use it?

I have included several photoshop plug-ins into Photoimpact and so far all have worked. haven't got the specific one you mentioned though.

It is possible to get a PS plug-in to work if the file extension is *.8BF, if not it probably will not work with Ulead. A second consideration is the age of the Plug-in, older versions need an old MSVRT10.DLL that is no longer used and is a serious security threat. Win XP deletes the old DLL if found on the hard drive during updates and some patches.

Photoshop CS CD still offers the DLL in the Folder Goodies/Optional Plug-ins/Ffactory/. Copy the DLL to the Windows/system and system32 Folders. Install the plug-in a directory Folder on your hard drive and then point Ulead Preferences to the new Plug-ins Folder.

This DLL usually only works with PS 7 and earlier plug-ins. If your get it all correct and it works your good, and if not that is the quirkiness about PS plug-ins and Ulead. There is a lot on the Web about installing PS plug-ins.

Having read the above post by Keenart I should add that I have Photoshop CS installed on my system and so that may have a bearing on the fact that I am able to use the Photoshop plug ins with Photoimpact.

http://www.digitalanarchy.com/backdrop/ ... price.html

This URL lists the compatible Programs and indicates it is compatible with all Photoshop versions 5.5 thru CS2. It also states that the API the plug-in requires may not be compatible with other Graphic Editors.

digital anarchy says to download the Demo version and test on your system before buying the Full. They state they do not give money back for plug-in incompatibilty.
