I was a VS7SE user who upgraded to VS8 a year or two ago. Everything worked fine, until I decided to uninstall VS7SE during a hard drive cleaning. VS8 appeared to work, but I got some strange errors. So I reinstalled VS8, only to discover that when I go to the "Share" menu, the only options were "NTCS DV" and "Custom"--all the other ones I had previously, like "NTSC DVD", "SVCD", etc, were gone!
To make a long story short, I've uninstalled and reinstalled both VS7SE and VS8 several times now, but the Share menu continues to show only the NTSC DV option. What happened to all the MPEG capabilities of my VS8? I can only create AVI files now.
I have VS7SE on disc, but the VS8 upgrade is an electronic package. I tried disabling my firewarll, virus checker, antispyware, etc., during reinstall thinking that might've interfered with something. My only option left is to restore a backup of my drive and then rebuild from there. But that is my last resort. I hope someone on this forum can give me a magic bullet to say "Aha! THIS file is missing....".
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Missing options on VS8 "Share" menu
Unfortunately, I don't. I have the ESD version. I have a boxed version of VS7SE, but running its "Repair" option didn't help either.
I forgot to include my system specs in my previous message:
VideoStudio 8 Upgrade, ESD edition
MovieFactory 4 Upgrade, ESD edition
Dell Inspiron 600M, 1.4GHz Pentium M
1.25GB RAM, 30GB HD
Windows XP Home, SP2

If you go to the Share Tab and select create video file you should find a custom option.
Here you should be able to specify a file type which can be AVI or MPEG.
Providing you have that option then see the following link for suggested settings to create a DVD compliant MPEG2 file. Version 8 will not support Dolby (AC3) without a plug in so you will have to use the sound settings as shown in the list.
