hi all, i downloaded yesterday VS10. there's no Help tutorial and i wonder why. the error message reads "help files not found."
another strange bird: when downloading the upgrade, i also had several other links for "bonus" and "content" stuff, maybe five of them, and unable to open them. (.rar files) or something. what's that?
thanks!
david

David,
RAR is a compression format similar to ZIP however WinZip will not open it. You can use a free proggy like 7-Zip which can be downloaded from http://www.7-zip.org/
If you go to the following thread there is some additional info on the Bonus Features...

All of the VS10 documentation (help files, feature list, etc.) are available in pdf at...

Help seems to be in content file
When you download the trial you just get the main programme with only sample content e.g. one video file, a few DVD templates etc. When you buy like I did last night you get a content file and 2 bonus files as well. I discovered that after installing the purchased upgrade file I didn't get any help until I installed the content too.
I couldn't get my bonus files to unzip - I got a CRC error. Anyone else get that?

I haven't got that nasty error message in some time (knocking on wood). It is a Cyclic Redundancy Check error. However what I found to be my problem, was I had a memory (RAM) module going bad. Every time I download one of Ulead's programs, and installed I would get that. It wasn't until I started receiving with another application, and a few other things, like my computer would suddenly reboot, that I checked my memory. Once I replaced my module, no more CRC errors..
However since Ulead's server is probably working overtime, the files may be corrupting while being downloaded. The only way to tell is to redownload, and reinstall...

Thanks for your responses. Out of curiosity I tried the archiving app recommended earlier "7-Zip" and lo and behold there were all manner of files that didn't appear before. Not surprisingly the two packages extracted correctly although I did get a CRC on one of the Video files which seemed to exist in both packages so it didn't matter.
I was using the old free version of PowerArchiver (6.1) which presumably hasn't got the latest RAR standards implemented. With PowerArchiver I only saw Video files in one of the packages and Audio files in the other. In reality the packages also contain more video and audio than showed up with PowerArchiver, images, WinDVD and Cool 3D.
So thanks for the tip about 7-Zip!

The majority of the 'content' goodies are in Bonus Feature 1. Neither of the Bonus Feature packages are critical to VS10's operation however they do contain the Cool3D and WinDVD Player installers. I downloaded both archives on Wednesday morning. I did get an error message when opening them but it didn't prevent me from completing the extraction, nor were the extracted files corrupt. So don't give up... try again in a few days. Might as well get a clean download of the entire package before your links expiredavid@virtualtourssell.co wrote:zip-7 is wonderful and unzipped my bonus downloads, however one of my content packs is corrupt. funny, i downloaded it again and the new download is corrupt as well.
hope there's nothing critical in there, because i give up!
