I've spen over an hour, I know there is a way but I cannot find it. I want simply to have the lasso tool draw the selection with straight lines not free hand. I'm stuck in free hand.

With the Lasso Tool selected. Under the Command Menu Bar there is a Tool Options Bar that appears for each Tool when selected.
For PI11 - Uncheck the Smart Lasso.
For PI10 - Clear Snap to edges and a straight line selects whatever you click.
If that does not do it then you need to change Icons form Freehand to Shapes.
