VS10 & Canopus VideoFX Transitions Plugin

Post by michaeltee »

Just FYI for anyone who purchashed the CanopusFX package for use with VS9, it IS also compatible with VS10. For those who missed the discussion of this plugin several months ago, CanopusFX is a 3rd party app that adds 500 user-configurable transitions to VideoStudio. In order to enable the effects, a plugin (VIDEOFX.VFX) must be deposited in VideoStudio's "vfx_plug" directory. For unknown reasons Canopus does not include this plugin with their software but several of us have it if anyone needs it. Anyway, just wanted to let y'all know your $50 investment was not in vain if you're planning to upgrade to VS10 :-)

canopus video fx

Post by Ilene »

That's great news...I emailed canopus today to ask them if they were going to support the new version of Ulead Video Studio 10. I'm enjoying the Canopus add-on so much, that I would be extremely dissappointed if it were not compatible with VS10 plus. Haven't purchased it yet...I'm waiting for the boxed version. I like to have the disks!

Thanks for looking into this!

adding canopus and pinnacle fx

Post by luvhangova »

This will probably be my only post in this forum...it seems that when someone asks for advice they must go thru some chastisment first...i.e. when someone asked how to include canopus fx and hollywood fx in video studio and media studio...first came comments that one should just be satisfied with what comes with ulead...THEN came the advice on how to do it.

I agree with the person who asked the original question..these other fx are a welcome addition to my ulead programs...all I wanted was to find out HOW to do it...not really interested that someone might think I'm out of line for asking. So, thanks to the person who asked the question and to the people who gave the solution. I can now play happily with my ulead software in ways that suit ME, the creator of my projects.

Thanks

OK this thread is a bit old but I am aware that a number of users have previously asked if they can use HollywoodFX with VideoStudio.

This was recently brought up again in this thread:
Hollywood FX transition effects in Ulead Videostudio

I am pleased to confirm that HollywoodFX version 4.5 CAN be used with VideoStudio and I have working copies in
VideoStudio 9 / 10 & 11.

More recent versions of Hollywood FX however do NOT work with Ulead products.

You will however require the appropriate plug in which I have made available for download here:

HollywoodFX for Ulead (5KB)

...And taking this thread back to its original reference to CanopusFX, I can now advise that the Canopus program works fine on Vista and the required plug-in works fine in VS11.

I installed the VFX plug in file you sent me and I now see the VideoFX drop down. Its only showing one transition effect. How do I get it to show the 500 or so effects available to me from my Canopus purchase?

Thanks again,
Sam

I finally found the guidance I needed from a previous post by Ilee. I now have VideoFX working with VS11+. The key is to apply the transition and then select customize on the applied transition. The customize pops up the VideoFX application where you can select the effect desired.
