Can't get my images to play at a proper speed.

Post by Formap »

Hi, I am very new to video editing/movie making and am having a particularly hard time in tryting to get my PNG clips to play.

I downloaded a trial version of Video Studio 10 Plus. I have 215 PNG files on my disk that were created by an animation program. I now wish to combine these files into the storyboard and make a smooth running movie out of them.

My problem is - all the files, when run, create a video anywhere from 4 minutes to 21 minutes long. This is WAY off. The video should be no longer than about 10-12 seconds.

I've imported the files into story timeline. I added a 5 second title and then processed the file to a movie to be placed onto my hard disk. Every time though, the processed movie comes out way too long and is unusable. How can I speed the animation up to make it run like it should?

I've created animation movies using Bink & Smacker, but wanted to move up to a more sophisticated movie maker. Bink and Smacker incidentally, made the movies at a speed they should be viewed at (20-30 frames per second).

Even though I've set the speed in the program to at least 20 FPS, after compiling, it still comes out several minutes long.

I'm about to pull my hair out. This problem isn't just with Video Studio; Movie Maker 2 in XP and Camtasia also have the same problem.

Actually, the program is not having the problem - obvisously I'm doing something wrong.

Can anybody please steer me in the proper direction?

Thank you.

Hi Bruce,
I take it what you are trying to do is insert sequential images and output to a file that would show motion like an animation. Right?
When you insert an image into VS it thinks it is just an image so will display it for a preset time because it thinks you want to look at that image at least long enough to see it!
If you go into File / Preferences / Edti you will see there is a choice for the default length of time that an image file is displayed. As far as I can tell 1 second is the smallest increment.

Hi Bruce,

For what you are wanting to do, have you thought about a flash authoring program? There's several around, however I use one that is very reasonably priced, and not that hard to use. It gives the option of using actionscript, if you understand actionscript or OOP (Object Oriented Programming). I know it would probably be able to do something similar to what you are after. It will also export to AVI.. It's called Swishmax.

Check it out here:

Thanks for the reply Ron. Shortly before receiving your post, it dawned on me that I was looking to create a "flash" movie. Most flash movies I've seen though looked to be of a poor quality. I guess some are better than others.

I'll check out Swishmax and see what I can come up with.

Thanks

Bruce
