HD DVD playback issues

Post by IkoHD »

Hi,

I have produced a DVD. Capture is from a SONY HD 1080i, and the MPEG plays nicely in WIN DVD 7 - full HD quality. Using MF5 I "burned" an HD DVD to a file folder, and it created a directory called "HVDVD_TS". Judging by the file names in that directory and the sizes of these files, it seems like a correct output.

However, I cannot play it from Win DVD 7. WinDVD has an option to select folders from a drive.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Below I am quoting Uleads info about "Pure HD". Did I misunderstand?

Thanks for any help....

4. Burn

Burn your high definition video onto disc. Whether you invest in HD DVD technology, we support them both. But if you do not yet have a HD DVD burner, you can "burn" your HD productions to your hard drive, and play them back on your PC – a great solution for MediaCenter PCs!

5. Play

WinDVD 7 is a versatile software player which will play HD content on your hard drive, or your HD-DVD Discs.

If your future is High Defintion, Ulead and PureHD will be right by your side.

Only a special edition of WinDVD 7 can play HD DVD. Where does your WinDVD 7 come from?

Exactly right. WinDVD 7 offers to play either a file (like a MPEG2) or to select a directory on your local disk. The latter option does not do anything if I select the folder "HVDVD_TS" which is created by MF5.

As I just found out and edited the previous post.
Seems to be more for playing the HD files and windows HD format, also
streaming across networks etc.

The advertisements are very mis-leading.
