Ulead VideoStudio MPEG-4 Plug-in Not Working

Post by Curl58 »

I have purchased, downloaded and installed the Ulead VideoStudio MPEG-4 Plug-in and I don't seem to be able to get it to work. After the installation, I assumed (maybe thats the problem) that MPEG-4 would be listed under the "Create Video File" list the same as MPEG-1 & MPEG-2, but it is not. I can not find anywhere the option to either import or export in MPEG-4 format. Is there something I'm doing wrong? There were no instructions with the plug-in. I have tried removing and reinstalling. I have even re-downloaded the plug-in, but still no luck. Thanks for any help.

Don't have the plugin myself so this is a guess.
When you go to Create Video File, Select Custom. Under Save as Type, mpeg should be there; if you click on Options you will get various parameters. Hopefully the mpeg-4 parameters will be accessible there somewhere.

I thought that also, but I don't see them any where. Thanks for the suggestion though. I'm hoping someone can still help me out.

MPEG-4 powerpack

Alright Alright!

Had the same question, so I put it to the tech support guys and they informed me of the following procedure (looks like it is only used in the share / create video file section of UVS8):

Once project / file is ready to go:
- Go to SHARE
- Click on CREATE VIDEO FILE
- Click on CUSTOM
- Click on the SAVE AS TYPE pull down menu
(if you've loaded the powerpack up, it should appear just above or below the normal MPEG type)
- Select MP4 and then customize the remaining settings to your liking.
- Then start to get happy because you haven't wasted your cash ...

have a good one

The best way to use Mpeg4 files is to go to Tools--Make Movie Manager--New
drop box and pick Mpeg4 and choose a name for new template.

Thanks for all the help. It worked like a champ. Now I have another problem. How do I create a DVD (i.e. "Create Disc") using MPEG-4 compression. I can not figure that part out. The MP4 plugin did an awesome job compressing the video, now I want to be able to create DVDs. Thanks again for all the help.

Hi, in my case I was able to read the MP4 file from within VS8 with the MPEG-4 plugin, before buying the plug-in it was impossible.

Nontheless now the movie is beeing played in FAST MOTION within VS8+MPEG-4, somebody knows what it is the problem ?, thanks

IMHO, you should not make a DVD with mpeg-4 files. This is a special form of compression, ideal for transmitting files over the internet etc, combining good quality and small file size.
The standard for DVDs is mpeg-2. You may well find, even if you can get the files on a DVD, that most DVD players can't read it.
