Fixing broken chapters with highlights

If you are like us you use highlights on your chapter links (we use the underline a lot) to jazz up the menu. If you have had the problem of having everything look OK in Workshop only to get to the Video_TS folder and discover that one or more of the chapter links are not working, then this work around may work for you as well as it does for us.

No need to delete folders, or move links on the menu page. Instead do this:

1. Go back to the broken link in Workshop. Right click and copy the text and highlight.

2. Delete the link, text (and with it the highlight). Just click on it and delete it.

3. Now paste back the text and highlight link.

4 Reposition it to the spot it was in before. Not critical, put it any where you like.

5. Burn the project again and voila the Video_TS folder data is now fixed.

This has worked for us repeatedly now and is a life saver for this very bad bug in DVDWS2!

Also if you are not using menu-edit to fix your chapter navigation after you have created the Video_TS folder then you are doing a dis-service to your customers. Again a very bad bug that has never been fixed.

Which brings me to another point. Is there a future for DVDWS? When will we have an enhancement and bug fix update? Is anybody out there listening to end users?

Let me know if this fix works for you. Maybe it is just our system that is the problem. Who knows.

Which brings me to another point. Is there a future for DVDWS? When will we have an enhancement and bug fix update? Is anybody out there listening to end users?

I don't know what the future holds for WS. I do know, however, that recent pleas for WS3 have been heard by Ulead. I've had some correspondence with the Authoring Products Manager (contents confidential - NDA) and there is some hope that something will happen, but I know neither what nor when - so please don't ask!!!
