version, how to know if you need an update pack

Post by brucefl »

How do you know if you need to download an update pack. I installed v11 a few wks ago, and there a few updates on the site, but really no referference numbers to know if I actually need it.
Though I am hoping it may fix the smartdownload problem. (it would probably state if it fixed that)
thanks

how do you know whether it needs it

I pretty much understood that, was be rhetorical about the smartdownload problems.

But how do you know if it needs those particular updates to v11, does it add anything after there installed to the v#?
thanks

If your having problems with smart download most of the time its to do with the Ulead server being busy and only able to handle a certain amount of traffic at a time. Try at different times of the day.

With the release of VideoStudio 10 yesterday I would expect the server to be a bit busy for the next couple of weeks.

Yes, there are Version Numbers you can identify by comparison, to find out whether you have the current update or need the new one.

When you open PI11 on the Command Menu/ Help/About PhotoImpact, you will notice a version number such as: Ulead PhotoImpact 11.0.0.0. Below that is the Serial Number. The number 11.0.0.0 would be the current version you are running. When you check the Ulead Site for Updates or Patches, you will find a Header such as: PhotoImpact 11 Update Pack 1 (Build Number: 11.0.0.1, Release Date: 2006/2/15). The last digit of the number 11.0.0.1 identifies this as the first Update Pack after the release of Ulead 11.0.0.0.

After you install the Update Patch menu item About PhotoImpact should have changed the version number, which should now read: Ulead PhotoImpact 11.0.0.1.

Other companies may also include the Version number in the File Name of the Patch, such as Acro-Reader_6.0.2_Update.exe, Ulead does not.
