Thumbnails show totally diff image than the one that opens

Post by chrisfitz »

Help! Somehow, many of my thumbnails have become disconnected from the images they are supposed to show. A thumbnail shows one image that should be on my pc, but when I click and open the thumbnailed file, a differernt image, that also is on my pc, opens instead. Where are the actual images that go with the thumbnail image? Have I accidently overwritten one thumb database with another? It doesn't matter what imaging program I use to open the thumb -- it comes up with a diff image than the thumb no matter what. The images shown on the thumbs are old family photos that are important, but these images are not the ones that open when the thumb is clicked. Help would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum..:)

First this is a General Discussion forum, so to get quicker responses to issues related to specific programs you should post in the appropriate forum. I suspect you are using Photo Impact, correct? If so what version?

This looks like a system configuration problem. Since you have the same issue with different applications. What OS are you using, I suspect WinXP?

What happens when you go to say My Documents/My Pictures and have the display set to Thumbnails, does it show the correct thumbnail for the picture?

Hi, Ron. Thanks for the reply. I am talking about just using Windows explorer to view the thumbnails, going to my computer, then navigating to the folder where the images are stored, and seeing the thumbnails for the pics I want to view, clicking them, and having a totally different pic open. I can open them in any viewing program, and it's the different pic, not the image that the thumb shows. I use WinXP. Thanks again. Chris
