Reasons to change from Movie Factory 4 to Movie Factory 5?

Post by url »

Hi, I have been using Movie Factory 4 with the External Hauppauge Unit that I bought last August.
It is the PVR Win TV USB2.
All that I basically do is capture a video to my HD on my toshiba notebok, satellite 2410, intel pent 4, mobile processor, 512 RAM, 1.9 ghz XP.

This is my older notebook about 3 years old now and I now have a newer Toshiba still in the box b/c the warranty has still not run out on this one and I am still happy with its performance.

I was wondering what the improvements are in the MF 5 that would make want to purchase it when I am satisfied with my current program.

I should say the Burner I use is the BenQ 162I exrernal burner and I use their exe. for burning in ROM only on their suggested Media R+, Maxell, Sony, TDK or BenQ and have not had a coaster yet.

I look forward to responses, thankyou

Hi,
There is a fix to the importing module in MF5 for importing +VR disks.
I could sent you that dll file if you need it.
Otherwise for your setup I'd have to say no benefit.
You can add more than one song to a slideshow.
Some other improvements, fancy menus, text menu's (there is a way to create text only menu's in MF4). Not as nice as MF5 though, but it works.

Your working with SD video.
MF5 is SD & HD so the upgrade would be able to make HD material.

If your not going to use the addtional features why bother upgrading.
I use MF4 full version for packet, data and music creation.
This feature isn't available in MF5. It's a completely separate set of programs.

They will probably be releasing an update to MF5 soon. There is an encoding problem with variable bit rate being locked at 4200kbs.
You may want to wait until some of the bugs are cleared up.

Thx for taking the time to respond.
Since I only capture a video and create a dvd....Then I should be confident in MF 4?

Correct.

I am not doing anything with music. Just a copy of a video classic that i have a big library of and creating a dvd.

Nothing fancy!!

What's the thought?????

Thankyou again and best regards!!

Thx for keeping the responses coming on this post as I don't want to make an error and buy the version that has issues with it.
That is why I am asking if I really need to upgrade to the next version when Movie Factory 4 is doing an excellent job for me.
All I am doing is capturing a video to a dvd format.

I must say that I have another post in here regarding the use of the Moving Menu which I am obviously not using properly and have had no replies on it.
Don't people use these options on proggys like Movie Factory 4?
I am certain I must be in a Default setting and would simply like to get direction on how to get a simple menu without the cats and have the falling autumn leaves. Can someone take a look at that post and also do I really need the updated version when MF 4 is doing the job very well.

Best regards, thankyou
