Capturing VOB files from dvd created by vhs to dvd burner

Post by magoda71 »

My Grandpa just converted some old historical home videos (vhs) they came out unedited I suggested that I could import and do some editing with VS 8. It seems like it does not recognize the format VOB format. Any suggestions on how to convert that type of file? Thanks

Import them to your hard disk and change the .vob extension to .mpg. That usually works. Let us know if it does not. I'm sorry, but I can't quite remember how you import video direct from a DVD using VS8. I never had to do so when I used VS8, and I have since uninstalled the program...

Hi Magoda71,

I just happen to have VS8 still on my computer, and fired it up to jog my memory.

1. Go to File Menu select Insert Media File (to Timeline or Library)>Insert DVD/DVD-VR

Image

2. Then select Browse and navigate to your DVD drive and the Video-TS folder, click OK.

3. This will open up a dialogue box containing the Scenes and a bit of information about them.

4. Then select the scenes you want to import. You can also choose to Trim some or all of the scenes you want to import. Once you have selected the scene(s) VS should now import them into the Library or Timeline.

Hope that helps...:)
