Edit DVD made from DVD recorder
Is it possible to edit a DVD that was made from a standalone DVD recorder. I would like to add menus to the video and re-record it to a new DVD.

renvette,
If you have anything older than Movie Factory 4, you might want to download the free trial. The newer versions have an improved DVD Import tool.
You can add menus and chapters without any effect on the actual video. Under Project Settings, check the box that says Do Not Convert Compliant MPEG files.
However, if you do any "real editing", you can run into a couple of issues... DVDs are MPEG encoded, and MPEGs are not meant to be edited. Anything like crossfades or color-correction will require an extra decode/re-code cycle. Since, MPEG is "lossy", you loose quality with each encode. You might also get some other weird problems (i.e. "lip sync" issues) if you don't use a special-purpose editor.
